Geomat 2017

The Faculty of Hydrotechnics, Geodesy and Environmental Engineering, from the “Gheorghe Asachi” Technical University of Iași, will host the 5th Edition of the International Symposium GEOMAT 2017„Geomatics and new technologies of geospatial science” in 23 – 24 November 2017, organized in partnership with Romanian Association of Surveyors (UGR), National Agency for Cadastre and Land Registration (ANCPI) and high profile national universities.

The idea of organizing and continuously develop the scale of the events, occurred both from scientific and practical necessity, and also based on the grounds that a community which does not leave a trace is resembling to a nonexistent one, wasted in irrelevance. We are honored that most outstanding scientific staff in the area, generously and positively responded to our invitation, this fact representing the recognition of the values of geodesy school in Iasi.” (Prof. Florian Stătescu – Dean of Faculty for Hydrotechnics, Geodesy and Environmental Engineering).

Romanian Association of Surveyors (UGR) is partner in organizing Geomat symposium every year and it achieved an international appreciation after the successful event held in Iasi in November last year when it was organized GEOMAT 2016 joint to FIG Commission 3 Workshop and Annual Meeting and EGoS General Assembly. “Romanian Association of Surveyors (UGR) wants to hold such large events that in the near future we can organize in Romania a working week of International Federation of Surveyors (FIG)” (Prof. Cornel PĂUNESCU – President of the Romanian Association of Surveyors)

“Implementation of new technologies of geospatial science is focused on acquisition of spatial data that constitutes an indispensable basis for our information society. The improved capture and integration of spatial data required the collaboration of many participating disciplines, including geodesy, cartography, computer science, photogrammetry, mathematics, remote sensing, statistics, geography, and various physical, social, and behavioural sciences with spatial analysis applications” (Assoc. Prof. Vasile CHIRIAC, President of Moldavian Union of Surveyors, Republic of Moldova and CLGE Secretary General).

We encourage Romanian surveyors and other experts having special focus to new technologies of geospatial science to register and then participate by presenting papers or debating the topics during the events and contribute in this way to the success of GEOMAT.

Scientific areas:

→ Geodesy and Cartography;

→ Engineering Geodetic Measurements;

→ Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing;

→ Cadastre and Real Estate Publicity; Real Estate Valuation;

→ Geographic Information Systems (GIS);

→ Applied and Environmental Science.

We also would like very much to encourage the manufactures and companies specialized in Geomatics to become sponsors of GEOMAT and participate with technical papers and in the expo that will be organized during GEOMAT.

The Conference Invitation and details of the conference are available on the official website of the conference http://geomat.ro

We wish you all a very pleasant stay in Iasi and a successful and interesting Symposium, which should bring new highlights, information and ideas to everybody!
